Microsoft Office 365

Microsoft Office 365—often shortened to O365—is the name for the latest computer, mobile, and web versions of Microsoft's email, Office applications, and other related services. With O365, all current students, faculty, and staff have access to the following:

  • Email, with inbox storage up to 50 GB
  • Full Office suite (Word, Outlook, etc.) for download onto personal computers and mobile devices
  • Web versions of Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Onenote, and Outlook
  • OneDrive, with cloud file storage up to 5 TB (5,000 GB)

All Microsoft Office 365 services can be accessed by signing into the O365 Portal (www.office.com) with your Cabrini University email address (abc123@cabrini.edu) and password. If you experience any issues logging in, please contact ITR for support (610-902-8366 or itrhelp@cabrini.edu).

OneDrive Integration

OneDrive is Microsoft's cloud storage solution, with available storage of up to 5 TB (5,000 GB) for current students, faculty, and staff.

OneDrive can be accessed via the O365 Portal, but it is also integrated into most Microsoft products, including the Microsoft Office application suite and later versions of Windows. OneDrive can also be installed on Mac computers and certain other devices.

OneDrive for Windows and macOS

OneDrive is included with Windows 8.1 and Windows 10. You may sign into this app with your Cabrini O365 account and configure it to synchronize your files to your computer. This feature is disabled on Cabrini University's public lab and classroom computers, but can be used on personal computers and private computers assigned to faculty and staff.

OneDrive is also available for Windows 8, Windows 7, and macOS. This can be downloaded as a standalone package at www.onedrive.com, or as part of the full Microsoft Office desktop suite available for download via the O365 Portal.

Microsoft Office

Files stored in your OneDrive account can be accessed directly within any Microsoft Office application. You can do this by either signing directly into the Office application (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) with your Cabrini O365 account, which will add an option to save or load files directly from your Cabrini University OneDrive account. This feature is available in Microsoft Office 2013 and later.

Alternatively, you can configure OneDrive to synchronize files on Windows and macOS. This creates a local OneDrive folder in your computer's user account, which you can naivgate to in the Office application. This is the required method for accessing OneDrive files in Microsoft Office 2010 for Windows and Microsoft 2011 for Mac.

Sharing Files

Users can easily collaborate on files stored within OneDrive. Sign into www.onedrive.com with your Cabrini email address (or click on OneDrive in the O365 Portal). Then right-click your file or folder and choose "Share." From there, you may choose another Cabrini member to share the file with, with an option to allow that user to edit the file.

Users who have been granted access to another user's files can access them at www.onedrive.com, under the "Shared" section on the sidebar.
