While Cabrini’s closing has been unfortunate and brought some challenging days, I want to inform you that Cabrini offers resources to help you during this tough time. Five helpful resources that have always been offered and will continue throughout this academic year include the Career Center for Professional Development (CCPD), Counseling and Psychological Services (CaPS), The Writing and Math Resource Center, the Dixon Center, and the Student Engagement and Leadership (SEaL) Office.
#1 The Career Center for Professional Development
In my time here, I have utilized our CCPD. They have helped me countless times. Whether I am looking for an internship, a job, resume help, mock interviews, or a career fair, the CCPD is has my back. The CCPD also brings employers and alumni to campus to open up new possibilities to Cabrini students. They are quick to respond and they help open your mind to new opportunities that you might not have thought about prior.
#2 Counseling and Psychological Services
CaPS has been reaching out to students via email with information on support opportunities and has also opened up additional times during the summer months for students to meet with a counselor. All of their resources are included in your tuition therefore, students should feel free to take advantage of all they offer! From one-on-one counseling sessions to group sessions, CaPS is always working to reach students and make sure that they know they are not alone, especially now.
#3 The Academic Enrichment Center
The Academic Enrichment Center which includes the Writing Center, Subject Tutoring, and Math Resource Center is a great resource that can help you improve your grade in many classes. Personally, I used this resource my sophomore year when I was in Accounting. All of the student tutors and staff were professional and welcoming and they helped me achieve a higher letter grade for the class. The student who helped me was mastering in Accounting, and she made the whole session feel like I was visiting an old friend, which made it so much easier for someone who had never needed a tutor previously.
#4 The Dixon Center
The Dixon Center remains open and encourages students to find healthy, active ways to cope throughout the school year. I personally manage my stress by going to the gym and lifting weights or attending a yoga class. The space has an indoor track, plenty of workout equipment, a yoga studio, and more! You can view the hours for the Dixon Center and work out classes here - https://rec.cabrini.edu/.
#5 The Student Engagement and Leadership Office
I find that busying up my schedule motivates me and keeps me looking forward. SEaL plans the best events to attend with my friends. When I get overwhelmed with classes and work it’s always nice to go to the movies using discounted tickets purchased in the SEaL Office or even a bingo night. SEaL remains committed to planning fun events for students all year long. Keep an eye on the Master Calendar to find out about events happening on campus.
