Utilizing the Math and Writing Resource Centers

Posted on 6/17/2021 8:02:10 PM by Anna Schmader

There are varying resources available at Cabrini for students to locate. This includes the Math Resource Center, Writing Center, Center for Career and Development (CCPD), and Subject Area Tutoring. I have utilized both the Math Resource and Writing Center and have mentioned to other students the benefits it has provided me.

The Math Resource Center was always available when I struggled in my Math 114 course. The staff was helpful and insightful, even though I was cautious asking for help. I quickly gained a relationship with the faculty inside the center, and I’ve understood the material better with the help of a tutor. I never felt like I was lectured but guided through. I helped others not to be afraid of asking for help, even if that meant going to the resource centers Cabrini offers.

The Writing Center has also been outstanding. I’m a perfectionist when submitting my work, and I want to have an eagle-eye view. This resource center made it convenient to schedule a time that worked around my schedule, never felt boring, and never felt degrading. I learned more about structuring both complex and simple essays where I felt like I had no idea what to do. On the online scheduling site, you’re able to choose who sees your work, what time you want to see them, what subject you’re focusing on, and you can attach your documents. To say the least, the Writing Center has been extremely resourceful.

I recommend Cabrini’s resources to any student who struggles even the tiniest bit. Asking for help is never an issue, but I understand it can be hard. It’s better to ask than to never know.
