Martha Ritter, PhD

Associate Professor of Education 

Martha Ritter, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Education. Since 2015, she has taught undergraduate and graduate Education courses including Foundations of Education, Teaching Social Studies and Social Justice, and Teaching Strategies for Elementary Social Studies and Minority Issues. 

Prior to two decades of work in higher education, Ritter taught children and youth in Bolivia; was an elementary school teacher in New Hampshire; and was a teacher/volunteer at a primary school serving children experiencing homelessness in India. 

Ritter received doctoral and master's degrees in education from the University of New Hampshire and a bachelor’s degree in anthropology from Tufts University. She is a member of multiple organizations, including the American Educational Research Association; American Educational Studies Association; Association for Moral Education; National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE); and Society for the Education of Women (SEW).
