RADNOR, Pa. (June 19, 2017)—On June 20, faculty in Cabrini University’s School of Education will collaborate with fellow education leaders in the Philadelphia area to host the inaugural Catholic Urban Education Seminar (CUES). The free seminar, “Creating A Culture of Achievement for All Students: Transformational Practices for Excellence and Equity in Urban Catholic Schools,” will focus on strategies needed to facilitate equitable practices for all students.
In acknowledgment of her pioneering work improving education and educational opportunities for underprivileged populations in Camden, NJ, Gloria Bonilla-Santiago, PhD, Founder and Chairman of the LEAP (Leadership, Education, and Partnership) Academy in Camden, NJ, received this year’s Ivy Young Willis & Martha Willis Dale Award, presented during a May 3 ceremony at the Mansion.
Former Cabrini president, Antoinette “Toni” Iadarola, PhD, is retiring after 44 years in academia, most recently as president of Lauralton Hall, an all-girls prep school in Connecticut.
Cabrini University community, Pope Francis, in his encyclical letter on ecology, Laudato Si, or ‘Praised Be,’ wrote, “A very solid scientific consensus indicates that we are presently witnessing a disturbing warming of the climatic system. (23)” The Pope goes on to write: “Climate change is a global problem with grave implications: environmental, social, economic, political and for the distribution of goods. It represents one of the principal challenges facing humanity in our day. Its worst impact will probably be felt by developing countries in coming decades. (25)”
