RADNOR, Pa. (June 19, 2017)—On June 20, faculty in Cabrini University’s School of Education will collaborate with fellow education leaders in the Philadelphia area to host the inaugural Catholic Urban Education Seminar (CUES).

The free seminar, “Creating A Culture of Achievement for All Students: Transformational Practices for Excellence and Equity in Urban Catholic Schools,” will focus on strategies needed to facilitate equitable practices for all students.

Held at the Campion Student Center at St. Joseph’s University, the event will bring together 175 teachers, aspiring teachers, educational leaders, scholar-practitioners, professors, and faith leaders.

The Co-director of Cabrini’s Center for Urban Education, Equity, and Improvement, Ronald W. Whitaker III, EdD, is chair of the event.

“This event symbolizes the seriousness of facilitating equitable practices for all students,” said Whitaker, who also serves as Assistant Professor and Director of District and School Relations in the School of Education at Cabrini. “The unique collaboration between all of our institutions shows a commitment to facilitate opportunities to work with teachers and educational leaders to help enhance this skillset and implement strategies.”

Additional Cabrini presenters include Thomas Conway, EdD, Assistant Professor of Teacher Education, and Rasheeda Ahmad, EdD, Assistant Professor and Graduate Special Education Program Coordinator for the School of Education. Beverly Bryde, EdD, Dean of Cabrini’s School of Education, served as a member of the planning committee.

Cabrini University is sponsoring the event along with the Archdiocese of Philadelphia Schools, Chestnut Hill College, Holy Family University, Gwynedd Mercy University, Immaculata University, Independence Mission Schools, La Salle University, Neumann University, St. Joseph’s University, Rosemont College, and Villanova University.
