Cabrini Welcomes New Dean and New Structure

Posted on 5/17/2016 11:11:00 AM

RADNOR, Pa. (May 17, 2016)—On July 1, 2016, Cabrini College will become Cabrini University and implement a new academic structure to better reflect its growing program offerings and student body.

Cabrini will establish four academic schools, creating the School of Education; the School of Business, Arts, and Media; the School of Humanities and Social Sciences; and the School of Natural Sciences and Allied Health.

The current Dean for Education, Beverly Bryde, EdD, will become the founding dean of the School of Education. Bryde has already established herself as a leading advocate for the long-standing tradition of excellence in teacher education and educational policy at Cabrini.

The current Dean of Academic Affairs, Mary Harris, PhD, will be the founding dean of the School of Business, Arts, and Media. In addition to being the former chair of the Business Department, Harris brings more than a decade of corporate experience in accounting and finance. Both Bryde and Harris served as full-time faculty members at Cabrini, leading a number of institutional priorities including Middle States accreditation and mission integration initiatives.

Cabrini is continuing a national search for the Dean of the School of Natural Sciences and Allied Health.

After a national search, Cabrini is pleased to announce the founding dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Mark S. Kiselica, PhD. Kiselica is an educator, social scientist, advocate for inter-racial harmony, and the author of nearly 150 professional publications.

He completed a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Saint Vincent College, a master’s degree in psychology from Bucknell University, a pre-doctoral internship in clinical child and adolescent psychology at The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, and a doctorate in counseling psychology from The Pennsylvania State University.

“I am honored to serve as the founding dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences,” said Kiselica, “and to work with the distinguished faculty and staff of the new school during this exciting chapter in the history of Cabrini as it begins its status as a university.”

A licensed psychologist and a licensed professional counselor, Kiselica worked in a variety of mental health settings before making a transition to higher education, where he has acquired 25 years of experience as a professor and administrator.

He has served as Assistant Professor of Counseling Psychology at Ball State University; Professor of Counselor Education, Vice Provost, and Dean of the School of Education at The College of New Jersey; American Council on Education Fellow at Elizabethtown College; and most recently, as Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Professor of Psychology at Iona College.

“We are delighted that Mark has decided to join Cabrini as we continue to grow,” Cabrini President Donald B. Taylor, PhD, said. “He joins two excellent academic leaders, Mary Harris and Beverly Bryde, both of whom have demonstrated dedication to our mission of social justice and academic excellence.”

Kiselica will join Cabrini’s community on July 1, 2016, and is excited to foster the inclusivity and human rights advocacy at the core of Cabrini.

“I admire the wonderful legacy of the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Catholic educational mission of Cabrini, which I am eager to promote in my role as dean.”
