Involvement Fairs: Join the Clubs!

Posted on 6/21/2019 3:05:34 PM by Abigail Scardelletti

College can be a scary place. Coming in as a first-year student, you often do not know where to turn or how to make friends or which friends are your true ones. You stick close to your roommate and try to break the ice with your fellow classmates during class time and see if you can find your niche.

One of the best ways to find your niche is to attend the semi-annual Involvement Fair that Cabrini holds each year. It is a time where all the clubs Cabrini has to offer come together and showcase themselves and each other in a science fair-like setting for about two hours in Grace Hall. It is a time to sign up for the clubs, learn more information and to see special performances from the iCavs Step team.

The student leaders of the clubs can and will enthusiastically inform you about what the clubs do when they meet and more.

Some of the best clubs are as follows:

  • Black Student Union (BSU) provides an outlet to appreciate Black and African heritage through meetings and events.

  • Cabrini’s Food Recovery Network is a chapter national organization aiming to fight food waste and feed people.
  • Muslim Student Association (MSA) is an opportunity to learn and appreciate Muslim heritage.

  • Cabrini Spectrum is Cabrini’s Gender & Sexuality Alliance, it strives to educate the Cabrini community about LGBT+ issues and “Allyship.”

  • CRS Ambassadors is a representation of Catholic Relief Services’ values and programs on campus.

  • The Green Team can often be seen cleaning up campus and create recycling initiatives and other activities related to helping the Earth.

  • iCavs Step Team is a group of students who choreograph and perform step routines and their own show and perform at competitions.

  • Pura Vida is a club that provides an avenue for all students to appreciate Hispanic traditions.

  • Student Government Association (SGA) is the official governing body that represents the student body.

  • Campus Activities & Programming Board (CAP) is the major event-programming board on campus that puts together events like Music Fest, the Mr. & Miss Cabrini Pageant, EPIC Weekend, New York City trip, trips to Philadelphia athletic events, and more. It has separate committees that help plan the events.

These are just a handful of the clubs Cabrini offers. Joining a club(s) helps create a great community for students on campus, resident and commuter alike. They often come together to support each other when it comes to the most important aspects of each club. If you do not want to be a part of any of these smaller communities, or do not have the time due to classes, you can certainly find most, if not all, of these organizations on social media platforms such as Twitter and Instagram (some even follow back!)

All 50+ clubs available represent every corner that a Cabrini student may be interested in and also help make an impact not just in the on-campus community, but within the town of Wayne and township of Radnor as well.
