Cabrini's First Win

Posted on 2/26/2018 8:12:25 PM by Ceonna Morris

Before coming to Cabrini, I wasn't a basketball fan in the slightest. I didn't enjoy layups or rebounds; I didn't cheer for the team or wear the colors. I would go for 5 minutes and leave out of boredom.  Basketball, like most sports, seemed like an overly tedious pastime for people who had too much time on their hands.

That all changed when Cabrini faced off against Rosemont in their first playoff game. My friends had encouraged me to come the night just to get out of the dorms and I was well prepared to be bored. That night I had imagined myself scrolling through my timeline while listening to Sza's album during the game. My experience actually differed greatly from what I had imagined. When I walked into the gym the Cabrini side was packed with blue and white. Our cheerleaders were unusually perky, and the fans were ecstatic and loud. Everything that usually annoyed me about basketball had become joyous that night. The crowd's energy was high and the anxiousness that I usually have from crowded spaces and loud noises dissipated as I cheered alongside my fellow Cavaliers.

Going to this game not only was enjoyable but made me 100% at home with my Cabrini Family. I hope that the Cavaliers have a great season and win the championships.
