RADNOR, Pa. (April 10, 2018)—On Thursday, April 19, 7–9pm, Cabrini partners with the League of Women Voters of Radnor Township to examine “fake news” during a free event in the Iadarola Center Lecture Hall. The timely discussion will address what fake news is, what it is not, and how to tell the difference.
On Tuesday, Nov. 14, the campus community celebrated Cabrini Day, an annual celebration of heritage and mission honoring Cabrini’s namesake, Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini. Each Cabrini Day, classes are canceled and students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to participate in the day’s mission-oriented activities and educational programming. The 2017 theme, Connecting Through Culture, celebrated multiculturalism as a way to promote learning and communication about diverse cultures.
“Social justice is like building a cathedral,” said Northampton Community College Professor Javier Ávila, the 2015 Pennsylvania Professor of the Year and keynote speaker for Cabrini Day 2017. “You’re working toward something, and you might not live to see the finished product, but that doesn’t mean you’re going to stop working on it. The next generation will work on it, and then the next generation, until you have something beautiful.” In his presentation, “The Trouble With My Name,” Ávila expounded on Connecting Through Culture, the theme of this year’s Cabrini Day, an annual celebration of heritage and mission honoring Cabrini’s namesake, Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini.
The Graphic Design and Fine Arts Department sponsored its first poster contest for high school students, the Art + Effect Poster Contest, for which students submitted conceptual posters using traditional media or computer-generated graphics that highlighted the theme of “Equality.”
RADNOR, Pa. (Nov. 8, 2017)—Cabrini University celebrated the impact of education and honored members of its community during its annual Visionaries Gala on Nov. 3. Held at Cabrini’s historic Woodcrest Estate, the black-tie optional event included a silent auction, awards ceremony, and a “Make It Happen” fundraiser.
