Cabrini Expands Future Opportunities for Current Students with Ursinus College Partnership

Posted on 7/19/2023 11:08:01 AM

Ursinus joins Eastern, Gwynedd Mercy, and Holy Family as official Cabrini transfer partners

Cabrini University today announced a partnership with Ursinus College which will ensure matching tuition, financial aid, and curriculum, as well as the streamlining of credit transfer and application processes for Cabrini’s first-year, sophomore, and junior students. Ursinus is the fourth institution—along with Eastern University, Gwynedd Mercy University, and Holy Family University—to officially partner with Cabrini as it works to ensure each of its students has an academic home while maintaining out-of-pocket costs following the 2023‒24 academic year.

“We are proud to add Ursinus College, a top-tier liberal arts college, to Cabrini’s list of official partner schools,” said Michelle Filling-Brown, PhD, Cabrini’s Dean of Academic Affairs. “We trust that each of our partner schools can meet the distinct and diverse needs of our students. This is a challenging and emotional time for our students as they navigate the 2023‒24 academic year, and Cabrini’s academic leadership team is committed to seeing these students through to the completion of their degrees.”

The Ursinus teach-out agreement provides the same benefits to Cabrini students as those stipulated in the three agreements announced in June with Eastern, Gwynedd Mercy, and Holy Family. These benefits include simple and cost-free applications, free transcripts, and the seamless transferring of all earned credits with no maximum. The agreement also ensures all earned credits while a Cabrini University student, regardless of the grade, will be accepted for transfer credits, unless a specific grade is required for the degree program at the partner school. Cabrini honors students will be transferred to the honors program at their partner institution of choice.

The agreements include a commitment to program-to-program curriculum matching, as partner schools will evaluate Cabrini students’ remaining classes and teach out those courses. Additionally, partners have agreed to match Cabrini’s tuition and financial aid accommodations to further smooth transitions.

“Cabrini University has been an integral part of our region for a long time,” Ursinus President Robyn Hannigan said. “To not stand beside them as they go through this incredibly difficult time would be antithetical to the values upon which our college is grounded. Providing a pathway for Cabrini students to continue their education is merely an expression of Ursinus’s continued commitment to keeping the promise of higher education.”

Cabrini’s undergraduate and graduate students will each have one-on-one meetings with the University’s Center for Student Success this year to understand how the specific offerings of the four partner institutions can work for their individual needs. Not all partner schools offer all of Cabrini’s degree programs and advisors will work with students to ensure they choose a viable transfer pathway.

Students must be in good academic, conduct, and financial standing to receive these benefits and transfer to a partner school in 2024.

“I’d like to assure you that we will continue the 2023‒24 academic year as planned for the freshman, sophomore, and junior classes, and see our class of 2024 through to graduation with a robust set of course offerings,” said Cabrini University President Helen Drinan. “For 66 years, our students, faculty and staff have left an enduring mark in our community, dedicated to academic excellence, leadership development and a commitment to social justice. We plan this year to actively celebrate this history along with our mission, ministry, and legacy.”
