Reopening Campus and Fall 2020

Posted on 6/22/2020 2:04:07 PM

Dear Cavalier community,

Cabrini has been monitoring the guidelines and best practices surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic and working diligently to develop a robust and thoughtful plan for reopening campus that carefully maintains as our top priority the health and wellness of all members of the Cabrini community, with special thought to at-risk populations. We are also charting a course that allows us to provide the best Cabrinian experience and full Education of the Heart, as is our mission.

Cabrini’s approach to reopening and the fall 2020 semester is outlined broadly below, and more information surrounding the full campus reopening plan will be communicated in the coming days.

  • Cabrini plans to resume on-campus instruction on August 31, to be conducted with a mix of in-person, hyflex, and remote modalities and with intentional safeguards and mitigation measures that follow the best practices and guidelines from the CDC.
  • In the hyflex modality, a class is divided into groups that alternate in-person attendance and attendance via synchronous livestream.
  • Following the Thanksgiving break, classes and finals will be conducted in an online-only modality. To accommodate this modified schedule, the fall 2020 academic calendar has been adjusted: Classes will not be held on Labor Day, but will be held during the originally scheduled Fall Break and Cabrini Day.
  • Residence halls will open for Move-In prior to the semester start, with modifications for mitigation measures. Residence halls, Holy Spirit Library, and dining services will remain open after the Thanksgiving break to provide options for students when classes change to an all-online modality.

As communities everywhere begin the slow process of reopening, we remain committed to doing so with the health and wellness of the Cabrini community and the greater public as paramount.

I look forward to sharing further details of Cabrini’s reopening over the coming weeks.

Stay safe, stay healthy, and take care of each other.

In the Cavalier spirit,

Donald B. Taylor, PhD
President
