Woodrow Wilson Fellow Tells Students to Rewrite the Human Code

Posted on 10/14/2015 3:46:00 PM

RADNOR, Pa. (Oct. 14, 2015)—Last week, Cabrini welcomed Woodrow Wilson Fellow Robert “Gus” Gusentine for a weeklong residency addressing students, faculty, staff, and community members.

After 28 years of experience leading collaborative, high-performance teams of the U.S. Navy, Gusentine now serves as chief operating officer of Global Sounding, Inc., a private enterprise designed to assess and monitor the global fresh water supply to provide decision-quality information to government, business, and the global community with a focus on human survival.

At classes, workshops, and a public forum at Cabrini, Gusentine discussed his leadership in and experience with water insecurity efforts and the military. He also met with cadets from neighboring Valley Forge Military Academy and College.

Gusentine spoke of how Cabrini College students would be tasked with solving global issues like water insecurity through human connection.

“The future means having to be prepared to write the new human code of how we live together,” Gusentine said. “Cabrini students—Cabrini graduates—who become good stewards of the planet are going to be prepared for what comes next.”

Gusentine’s residency was part the Woodrow Wilson Fellows program, which brings prominent leaders and non-academic professionals to campuses across the U.S. for substantive dialogue with students and faculty members.

Before leaving Friday, Gusentine said, “[The students’] focus and engagement really sustained the week and made it a lot of fun. It’s also encouraging for me to go home now and understand the future’s in good hands.”
