Judge Hughes to Discuss Leadership and Service as Cabrini Executive in Residence

RADNOR, Pa. (Oct. 16, 2015)—On Oct. 29, Cabrini welcomes the Honorable Renée Cardwell Hughes, chief executive officer of the American Red Cross Eastern Pennsylvania, as its Executive in Residence, hosted by the Nerney Leadership Institute.

During the daylong program, Hughes will meet with students, faculty, staff, and community members to discuss her leadership experience and commitment to service.

The public is welcome to two free talks led by Hughes:

  • 3:15 p.m.: “Service to Others as a Moral Imperative,” Grace Hall
  • 7 p.m.: “Lessons Learned from Judge Hughes’ Personal Journeys,” Mansion

The Executive-in-Residence program brings leaders in the corporate and non-profit sectors to serve one-or-two day residencies at the College. The leaders are selected for their extraordinary spiritual, emotional, and organizational leadership accomplishments.

The Honorable Renée Cardwell Hughes is responsible for the provision of American Red Cross Humanitarian Services including disaster response, preparedness, and recovery, in addition to service to the armed forces.

Previously, she served in the Trial Division of the Court of Common Pleas, and was in private practice specializing in corporate, health care, worker's compensation, and insurance defense law.

Hughes was inducted into the International Women in Homeland Security and Emergency Management Hall of Fame. She was recognized by the Philadelphia Business Journal as a Minority Business Leader, and Philadelphia Style Magazine named her one of the city’s Power Women.
