Cabrini offers a number of study abroad related scholarships to Cabrini students.  Please apply for all internal Cabrini scholarships by scrolling to the end of this page to complete the application.


John and Linda Heiberger Study Abroad Award

This award was made possible through generous gifts from Mr. John Heiberger, Professor Emeritus and former chair of the Business Department and former vice president of Institutional Advancement, and his wife, Linda, to promote study abroad opportunities for Cabrini business majors.  In the idea of paying it forward, the Heibergers encourage students receiving this award to consider personally supporting similar projects at Cabrini after graduation. All business students that wish to apply for summer or semester-long study abroad opportunities are eligible to apply.

Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship

The U.S. Department of State’s Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship is a grant program that enables students of limited financial means to study or intern abroad, thereby gaining skills critical to our national security and economic competitiveness. CIC Davies-Jackson Scholarships

The Davies-Jackson Scholarship provides a unique opportunity for seniors graduating in 2018 (or who have graduated in 2017 and who have not yet begun graduate school) with a 3.7 or higher overall grade point average. Boren Awards

 

Boren Scholarships, an initiative of the National Security Education Program, provide unique funding opportunities for U.S. undergraduate students to study less commonly taught languages in world regions critical to U.S. interests, and underrepresented in study abroad, including Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East. The countries of Western Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand are excluded.  Boren Scholars represent a vital pool of highly motivated individuals who wish to work in the federal national security arena. In exchange for funding, Boren Scholars commit to working in the federal government for at least one year after graduation.

Award Amounts

Maximum scholarship awards are:

  • $8,000 for a summer program (special initiative for STEM students only; 8 weeks minimum)
  • $10,000 for a semester
  • $20,000 for a 6 - 12 months

 Fund for Education Abroad 

 The Fund for Education Abroad offers general scholarships for US undergraduates who plan to study abroad for at least four weeks during the academic year or a summer term. Up to $5,000 may be awarded for a semester program and a summer award is calculated at a proportionate amount. The application cycle opens in November for the following academic year, beginning with summer programs. The application deadline for the 2017-2018 cycle is January 11, 2017 at 12:00 pm EST. FEA strongly encourages students to apply who represent a group that is traditionally underrepresented in education abroad. Those groups include, but are not limited to:  Minority students, First-generation college students, Community college students, Students with disabilities

Student-Athletes, Veterans, Returning learners

 

Cabrini University Study Abroad Scholarship Application

Eligibility

  • The applicant is a declared major at Cabrini University.
  • The applicant has applied and deposited for either a short term, summer or a semester-long study abroad.
  • The applicant has been approved for either the short term, summer, or semester-long study abroad program.

Application Requirements

Students will need to submit the following in addition to completing the application below:

  • Unofficial copy of academic transcripts
  • Essay
    • No more than 1,000 word essay; must be typed and double spaced
    • In this essay, you must describe the importance of multicultural/international study and what you expect to gain from your study abroad experience (If you have completed an essay for acceptance into the study abroad program, you can use the same essay here).
