Graduate Certificate in Urban Education
The Graduate Certificate in Urban Education is a six course, 18-credit, interdisciplinary program that uses a social justice and advocacy lens to prepare professionals to broaden and deepen their understanding of the urban educational landscape.
Though this certificate program is not one of our many state-approved teacher certifications, it was developed from a request from the Catholic University School Partnership (CUSP) to provide greater professional development opportunities for educators working in urban areas.
Certificate Highlights
- This is a part-time, 18-credit certificate program composed of six courses.
- Currently, this is the only Urban Education graduate certificate offered by a collegiate institution in the Philadelphia area.
- The program pulls from sociological, anthropological, and psychological approaches to identity and solve problems and to understand issues of equity and access.
- The coursework is designed to meet the burgeoning demand for transformative educators who attach rigor to progressive ideas and holistic connections.
