Adjunct Faculty Events

Cabrini University offers an adjunct orientation to new faculty twice a year. The Provost's office or Department chairs will contact adjunct faculty with the dates and times offered.

Cabrini University hosts an adjunct appreciation ceremony and reception each year.  It is a night dedicated to celebrating our valued adjunct faculty members.  In addition, each school honors an adjunct faculty member to receive the teaching excellence award.

For larger printing jobs (>100) a dedicated copy center is available in Grace Hall, Room 202 (Code needed for machines and to access room after 4pm [Contact assistant to the schools]).

Adjunct Faculty Electronic Contract Instructions

Faculty Agreement:

As a member of the Faculty at Cabrini University, you will observe policies and procedures of Cabrini University as expressed by the Mission and Core Values and the Faculty Handbook.

Plan for and deliver intellectually challenging learning experiences that:
1) fully utilize scheduled class time, 
2) continue student learning through relevant assignments/projects/online discussions, 
3) use assessment rubrics that provide meaningful and timely feedback on all graded work, and 
4) maintain communication with students outside of class time as needed.

Participate as a responsible member of the Cabrini University Faculty by:
1) submitting course syllabi prior to the first week of class,
2) responding promptly to all University communications (ex. Program Coordinators, Department Chairs, and CabriniOne email),
3) participating in program or General Education assessment as appropriate including any delivery of student assessment that is requested and
4) submitting any online feedback (i.e., non-attendance, first-year advising and early warning notices when requested by Academic Affairs)

Contract timeline and tiers:

Once all course details have been confirmed for the semester, contract notifications will be electronically sent to Cabrini email addresses on file.  This usually occurs about a month before the start of classes.

Most adjunct faculty are paid based on Cabrini University's compensation levels, based on three-credit courses

  • Tier 1 (1 to 10 semesters taught since 2007): $2,500
  • Tier 2 (11 to 15 semesters taught since 2007): $2,700
  • Tier 3 (16+ semesters taught since 2007): $3,000

Exceptions:

  1. With a change in role from full-time to part-time, a Cabrini employee with continuous service to the institution will continue to be paid at Tier level reflective of total semester(s) taught since 2007
  2. With a change in role from full-time to part-time, a Cabrini employee with a three year break in service will be paid starting at Tier 1. Semester(s) counted will be as of start of return year.

Specific to New Hires

The New Adjunct Appointment Form needs to be completed and submitted to HR once an adjunct is hired by a Department Chair. It is advisable to submit this form early in order to begin the new hire process through HR.

HR will use this form to activate the new hire process.  Information with next steps will be provided to the new hire via email and access to Cabrini Accounts will begin once HR has received and processed the required employment paperwork.

New hires will be sent an email about a month before the start of classes with instructions to sign their course contract via the Cabrini Portal.
