One of the best assets that Cabrini University offers its students is a robust Career Center. The Cabrini University Center for Career and Professional Development (CCPD) helps students explore potential majors, write a great resume, practice for interviews, job search, and so much more!
I have utilized the services of the CCPD since my freshman year at Cabrini. I was able to schedule a one-on-one resume appointment. During my appointment, I learned how to make my resume stand out during my internship and part-time job search. The CCPD staff were so helpful and assisted me in fine-tuning the language on my resume about my experience and skills. The CCPD can help you start a resume from scratch, help fix up what you've already started, or even help you tailor your resume/cover letter to certain jobs you want to apply for. I would encourage everyone to utilize these resume-building resources that are offered at Cabrini.
Another helpful service that the CCPD offers is internship/job searching appointments. I personally can attest to the success that this service gives to students. I felt like I was at a dead-end with my internship search during the summer going into my junior year. Everything I found online was either not quite right for me, too far away from school, or did not work well with my class schedule. When I thought all hope was lost, I scheduled my appointment with the CCPD (something I should have done MUCH sooner in my search). Ms. Deb Kelly was amazing in helping me to narrow down my search. She took time to learn about my career goals to help me find an internship I would truly benefit from. This appointment led me to find my first college internship!
Another service from the Career Center that I took advantage of was the Spring 2023 Career Fair. Here, students were able to meet and network with potential future employers. There were representatives on campus looking for students in all different majors. The event was an opportunity to hand out resumes and practice presenting ourselves in a professional manner, some for the very first time. In my opinion, this event was a great success, and I am so glad I attended. Many of my peers are still talking about the connections they made with potential employers. This event gave Cabrini students, including me, a chance to step out of their comfort zones and gave us the push to begin our venture out into the working world.
The CCPD has helped me in many ways, and I know that their services will always be there for me and every Cabrini student, even when we are alumni! I recommend that every student at Cabrini utilizes the resources and services the CCPD offers. They help students land interviews daily, navigate the different majors at our school, and become successful individuals in their future career fields.
