Review of Food Truck Thursdays

Posted on 4/22/2021 3:38:41 PM by Amber Berkheimer

Each Thursday in April, Cabrini SEAL hosted what they called “Food Truck Thursdays.” It was a great success on campus and offered stress relief and fun to the lives of students who are currently preparing for finals. The series, which was free to the first 75-100 students, began with Chickie’s and Pete’s fries and closed out with Pitruco Pizza.

Chickie’s and Pete’s fries were offered for free to the first 90 students. The line went all the way down the sidewalk of Founder’s Hall and proved to be a favorite among the Cabrini community. Commuters, residential students, and staff members alike lined up for free fries.

The second food truck, Steve’s Prince of Steaks, offered free Philly cheesesteaks, chicken cheesesteaks, and cheese fries to the first 100 students to snag a spot in line. On this day, the weather was nice, and the sun was shining, allowing many students to enjoy their food outside with friends out in the Commons.

On Thursday, April 15, the first 75 students in line were offered hot donuts and fresh lemonade. There were many flavors of donuts to choose from, including Oreo, cinnamon, powdered sugar, and glazed. There was a DJ playing music the entire night, and, once again, the Cabrini community loved this free event.

The final feature in the Food Truck Thursday series was a free personal-sized Pitruco pizza for the first 75 students. In my opinion, this was a great way to end the month. The pizza was freshly made and was offered in a variety of flavors: margarita, cheese, pepperoni, sausage, and they even had vegan options! The line was almost to capacity at least 20 minutes before the food truck even arrived, and I think most students would agree with me. It was worth it waiting outside for, even in 40-degree weather.

Along with the free food, based on your number, which designated your place in line, you could be randomly selected for a free prize. These prizes ranged from Bluetooth headphones to an Echo Dot and so many more. This is an event that was very favorable among students at Cabrini and one that we are all hoping may make an appearance in the upcoming school years!
