Living with Purpose with my Best Friend

Posted on 4/17/2017 9:19:54 PM by Treci Butler

It was February of my senior year of high school, and I had no idea of where I was going to school in the fall. My best friend since the fifth grade, Jack, had already been accepted and paid his deposit for Cabrini College. He had been telling me to apply, but I didn’t think anything of it since I knew I wanted to go to Kutztown.

When I realized that Kutztown was not the school for me, my mom told me that she wanted me to attend a four-year institution, and I could only think of one more school that would work for me, and that was Cabrini College, with my best friend.

Attending college with my best friend of 10 years was the greatest decision that I could have ever made. Most people had told us for years that we would attend college together, but we knew that there would come a day where we would have to depart from one another, and it was almost guaranteed that it would be during our college years. I have compiled a list of four reasons why Living with Purpose with my best friend has been the greatest experience of my life, and I can only hope that you are inspired.

1. No one can build you up like your best friend.

When I fall short, Jack is the one who is there to let me know that I am doing this right. It is easy for us to feel like we are always falling short, but what makes it easier is having that best friend that is there to build you up.

2. No one can hold you accountable like your best friend.

Best friends are not there to boost your ego; they are there to be honest with you. When I am being lazy or irrational, it is my best friend Jack who is there to hold me accountable for my actions.

3. No one can understand your tribulations like your best friend.

There are truly times in college where you may feel like your best is not good enough, and sometimes, that is the case. It may cause you to feel like no one is there to understand you, but there is somebody, your best friend.

4. No one can entertain you like your best friend.

We have those days where you just want to laugh. It is a great feeling when I get into my best friend’s room and we can make each other laugh, and carry on like two kids in a sandbox. College can be serious, but you need that one person who can make you laugh.

This is how we have kept a strong bond for all of these years. I hope that you choose to attend with a best friend, or I hope you find a best friend during your stay at Cabrini University. You never know, it could be the best decision of your life!

Hey Jack, you’re the real MVP!
