Christmas Gifts On a College Budget

Posted on 11/29/2017 8:39:49 PM by Rachael Tygh

Hello and happy December! I wanted to share a post today with some quick and affordable gift ideas or stocking stuffers that can fit into your college budget. I personally started Christmas shopping on Thanksgiving night for Black Friday deals, but I still have so much to do. I hope you all enjoy this and find it useful!

Helpful Hint: Do as much of your shopping in physical stores as possible. When the holidays come around, the online shopping websites can sometimes ship your order too late to arrive in time for Christmas if you do not order early enough!

1. Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 Polaroid Camera

Okay, this first one one is a little on the pricier side, but if you shop around you can find a good price. They are great for on the go because they are light and you can have a physical copy of your picture instantly. Don’t forget to grab a pack of film so they can take pictures right away!

2. Mobile Phone Ring Stands Or Popsockets

These little guys are lifesavers when trying to stand your phone up to watch videos or even take your own videos and pictures. They come in all types of colors and themes for an affordable price. Target has a great selection of these in the electronics section. Or check out popsockets.com or Amazon if you like to shop online.

3. Phone Case

In this generation, almost everyone you know owns a cell phone of some kind. Get a sneak peek of what phone they have and gift them a fun new case or a super protective one if they are an active person. The case options are endless with stores like Target, Best Buy, and of course the internet.

4. Cozy Slippers

Everyone could use a pair of cozy slippers in the winter. They come in all styles and sizes. You can find everything from Batman slippers to unicorns. The options are endless.

5. Burt’s Bees

Burt’s Bees has a wide variety of options for your mom, sister, girlfriend, etc. They have many gift box sets filled with chapsticks, makeup, body lotions, and more. You cannot go wrong here because all of the items that Burt’s Bees offers smell amazing.

6. A Christmas Stocking

If you are feeling really fun, you can buy a few things listed above and fill up a stocking with gifts and some hot chocolate packets. Stockings are great because they are budget-friendly, and then the person receiving the gift gets a few gifts instead of one. To make this even more budget-friendly, you can buy the stocking from the Dollar Store and maybe even the hot chocolate.

7. Fuzzy Socks

I know that I already mentioned slippers, but come on, everyone loves fuzzy socks. I keep mentioning Target because they have everything you could ever want, including fuzzy socks. They have a wide variety of fuzzy Christmas socks for $3. Yes, THREE DOLLARS, and you could make someone the happiest and warmest person on Earth!

8. Board Games

Games are a fun gift to give because it usually means that the game will get everyone playing and talking to each other once it is opened.

9. Hobbies

This is where some more thinking is required. Think about the person you are buying for. What do they love, care about, invest a lot of time into ... what gets them excited? If you think about their hobby or hobbies, you can buy them something personal that will let them know you put a lot of thought into the gift.

10. Jewelry

This last idea can be budget-friendly or not so budget-friendly. It depends on what you want to choose, either way it is great! This option can be for guys or girls, boyfriend, girlfriend, mom, dad, etc. For the boys, you can buy them a watch or an activity tracker of some sort and even get it engraved and personalized. For the ladies, you can shop at places such as Target, mall jewelry shops, or Charming Charlie. But if you want something affordable but meaningful, check out Pandora. Pandora has many affordable rings, necklaces, earrings, and bracelets for a good price AND they will mean a lot to the person receiving them. If you are interested in their ring selection, it seems to be fairly priced for a higher-end named store, which is always great!

Good luck and have fun shopping!
