Are You Ready For 2018 Graduation?

Posted on 4/19/2018 4:42:16 PM by Rachael Tygh

SCREAMING GOODBYE TO 8:15 CLASSES, HELLO ADULT WORLD! I wanted to write this blog in the form of a one- stop- shop for graduation information and events for you to remember that are available to you. Those graduating can benefit from this by getting ready for the weeks to come, or anyone interested in knowing what goes on leading up to graduation can learn a little something before their own big day.

When is Graduation Day For Undergraduates and Graduates?

Commencement for the Class of 2018 will take place on Sunday, May 20, 2018.

Undergraduate Commencement is at 10 o'clock am and Graduate Commencement is at 2:30 pm.

Commencement Kick-Off

By now, you should have already attended the Commencement Kick-Off. How convenient was it for everything to be in one room? Also, being handed my cap and gown was definitely surreal and exciting. I cannot believe how quickly this year passed by!

 What is the hooding ceremony?

Beginning a new tradition at Cabrini, the Senior Awards and Hooding Ceremony will honor bachelor’s degree candidates before the Commencement Ceremony.

To recognize each student’s accomplishment, a faculty member from each student’s respective department will place the graduation hood over the student’s head, signifying his or her success in completing the program.

During the awards ceremony, students also will be recognized for receiving honors including the dean’s and president’s lists, valedictorian, the highest grade-point average, honors, and more.

Commencement Mass

Date: Saturday, May 19, 2018

Time: 4pm

Location: Grace Hall

Length of Mass: Approximately 1.5 hours

All of this information is certainly a lot to take in. Do not be afraid to ask around or ask for any help regarding graduation day. The last thing you need is to be stressed over a very important and rewarding day. You are accomplishing something so special and unique. Be proud of your accomplishments. Attend the events above with pride, you deserve it. Cherish the senior week events. Spend the week with your friends and classmates, you will be happy you did so.

Fun fact! I graduated from high school in Cabrini’s gym located in the Dixon Center. I met up with my 2014 class in Grace Hall and prepared to graduate high school. Four years later, I am graduating at Cabrini once again, isn't that bizarre?
