5 Fun Events to Look Out for this Semester

Posted on 10/26/2022 2:13:34 PM by Piper Byrne

One of the things I love most about attending Cabrini is how easy it is to get involved and attend events. The University and its student-run organizations do such a great job planning a wide variety of events that appeal to people of all different interests. It’s a great way to meet new people, hang out with friends, make fun memories, and take a break from schoolwork.   If you’re interested in seeing what Cabrini has going on, check your email every Monday for the Cabrini Chronicle, check Cabrini's social media, or visit cabrini.edu/calendar to see what’s happening for the week.  In this blog, I’m going to be sharing with you some of the events I’m most excited to attend throughout the rest of the fall 2022 semester.

  1. Halloween Havoc (10/27/2022 at 8 pm)

One of my all-time favorite Cabrini events, which I look forward to every year, is Halloween Havoc.  Havoc is filled with tons of fun, games, prizes, free t-shirts, and performances from the Cabrini Dance Team, the Cabrini Cheer Team, Cabrini Step 4 Life, and even some of the sports teams.  Each athletic team picks a theme for Halloween costumes, and it’s always so fun to sit with my friends and see what theme is going to be next.  My best friend, Brooke, is on the dance team, so I always look forward to getting to watch her perform with her team as well.  We danced together our entire lives, and although I stopped dancing, it still brings back so many memories.

  1. An Afternoon of Song (11/13/2022 at 2 pm)

This event is something I’ve been looking forward to for so long.  I have been part of the Cabrini Music Program as a private lesson student since 2020.  As a senior, I have been given the opportunity to perform a vocal recital with my amazing, talented friend, Kerrie Habicht.  Singing is one of our favorite things to do together, and we are so excited to share that love with the entire University.  We will be singing a variety of pieces by various Broadway composers.  The event is a 2 pm in the Widener Lecture Hall, and admission is FREE!

  1. World Café (11/17/2022 at 6:30 pm)

Another event I am looking forward to attending this semester is the World Café Coffee House event hosted by the CRS in collaboration with Student Club Organizations.  There are going to be pastries from around the world, cocktails, coffee, and hot chocolate.  You can get unlimited fair-trade coffee and hot chocolate for $5 and even sign up to be one of the live performers!

  1. Cabrini Theatre Broadway Cabaret (12/1/2022 & 12/2/2022 at 8 pm)

I know what you’re thinking: we get it, Piper - you love the theatre.  But seriously, all bias aside, this event is so much fun.  Not only do I love performing in it, but I also love to be able to sit in the audience and watch my friends shine! That’s something I don’t get to do when in a production of a musical.  All I can do is stand backstage and listen.  We perform a wide variety of songs as well as some scenes and monologues.  Last year, we had such a great turnout, and the audience had a lot of fun. I’m excited to see what this year has in store!

  1. Christmas at Cabrini (12/4/2022)

Christmas at Cabrini is such a fun way to start wrapping up the semester and to get in the Christmas Spirit! The Christmas season is my favorite time of the year and to get to partake in all kinds of Christmas activities with my friends is so much fun.  Our annual Merry Little Christmas at Cabrini event will include a choral concert in the Widener Lecture Hall (2-3:30pm), crafts and pictures in the Mansion (3-4:15pm), Mass in the Chapel (4:15pm), a Live Nativity on the Commons (5pm) and dinner in Cav’s Corner (5:15-7pm). This event is also open to family, friends, and alumni! I can’t wait to Deck the Halls with the Cabrini community.

There are so many other activities planned for the rest of this semester! Are there any others that you’re super excited about?
