Fun Fall Activities Off-Campus

Posted on 10/30/2020 1:59:35 PM by Amber Berkheimer

Around this time of the year, when the leaves begin to fall and the weather gets chilly, you may find yourself wondering what there is to do around this area, especially if you are not local. Aside from the numerous fall activities on Cabrini’s campus, there are a plethora of activities and events happening off-campus.

  1. Linvilla Orchards, Media, Pa: About a 25-minute drive from Cabrini’s campus, Linvilla Orchards is a fall bucket list item if you are in Delaware County. It is still open this year, with a few modifications, such as wearing a mask and social distancing. They still offer many of their iconic attractions, such as hayrides around the orchard, the Barnyard which showcases many farm animals, the Corn Maze, train rides, and, of course, Pumpkinland (pictured above). Linvilla Orchards is a fun place to visit with friends on the weekends, or even during the week if you want to beat the crowds.

  2. Eastern State Penitentiary, Philadelphia, Pa: Although the infamous “Terror Behind the Walls” attraction was canceled this fall, Eastern State Penitentiary still offers both day and night tours, and it is spooky enough on its own any time of the year, especially in October and November. Even if you don’t have a car on campus, Eastern State Penitentiary is accessible by train, which is a short walk from Cabrini. Night tours begin at 6pm, and tickets are $11 if you show your student ID!

  3. Ghost Tours in Philadelphia: There are many different ghost tours in Philadelphia throughout the fall. There are public tours and private tours of some of the most haunted and historic spots in Philly, as well as the Ghost Tour of Philadelphia, which is closely related to the novel Ghost Stories of Philadelphia. Stories involved in this tour include historical hauntings dating all the way back to William Penn, as well as recent hauntings! This area is rich with ghost stories and spooky history, and these tours are perfect for getting to know more about it!

These events are sure to keep you busy during a fall weekend and are perfect for escaping from schoolwork for a few hours! Delaware County and the surrounding areas always have fun events happening and activities to attend, you just have to keep an eye out!
