As I reflect on my life choices, I can honestly say that choosing Cabrini University was one of the best decisions of my life. I have been able to enhance my educational experience with the help of professional and compassionate faculty members while engaging in dynamic classroom settings and discussions. I have been given the opportunity to communicate with my fellow peers in a relaxed and interactive environment. I have learned to unleash my potential and get out of my comfort zone. Below I have listed some of the things that make Cabrini stand out!
1. A Transformative Education
Over the past few years, Cabrini has introduced new academic programs and departments, including the new Health and Exercise Sciences Department. The department has initiated several changes to its major offerings: Public Health, Health Science, and Nutrition. A Nursing program was launched, too! The University continues to expand its programs and provide all students with a transformative educational experience. Cabrini also has a consortium agreement (SEPCHE), allowing students to take classes at other institutions without extra costs.
2. Education of the Heart
Cabrini is committed to providing all students with an education that not only enlightens the mind, but also nurtures the heart. You will not only learn to lead, but to lead with compassion and integrity. The ECG courses (Engagement of the Common Good, part of the core curriculum) allow students to explore their identity and role in relation to the greater community, engage in service opportunities, and participate in advocacy to foster positive changes.
3. Affiliate Agreements
Cabrini also offers affiliate agreements for students wishing to go to graduate school. For Chemistry majors, Cabrini has a partnership with Thomas Jefferson University School of Pharmacy and University of the Sciences Pharmacy Program. For biology majors, Cabrini has an agreement with the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.
4. Career Resources
The Center for Career and Professional Development offers students with a multitude of resources to explore their career goals, search and apply for internships, enhance resumes, and prepare for interviews or graduate school applications. I have used their PowerPoints fixing my resume and Handshake for and finding internships. With the shift to online modality, the center continues to offer services virtually.
5. Service Opportunities
Cabrini hosts several PB&J nights, where students deliver sandwiches to those experiencing homelessness in Philadelphia. Students can engage in other opportunities as well, such as planting shrubs and flowers on campus, donating and helping in the distribution of socks, as well as providing essential products to children in Philadelphia, among others.
