Beautiful weather is finally starting to roll around, and that means it’s time to start spending a lot more time outside! But what are some of the best things to do in the Cabrini area during the spring?
Plan a trip to one of the three major cities located near Cabrini
One of the amazing benefits of going to Cabrini is the close proximity to Philadelphia, New York City, and Washington D.C. Each one of these cities is located within three hours from campus, making them flexible options for weekend trips with your friends. But how can you get there? While getting to Philadelphia is quite easy with just a short 30-minute ride on the SEPTA regional rail into Center City, you will have to map out your trip a tad more to New York and Washington D.C. The best way to travel to New York and Washington D.C. would either be driving yourself if you have a car or taking the train to Philly and riding on a bus or train from 30th Street Station. Not only are these three cities great to visit, but Baltimore is just a short drive away as well!
Attend a Philadelphia Phillies game
In my mind, the true start of the spring season is when baseball season arrives. Right now, the buzz in the Philadelphia area is centered around the hot start by the local Philadelphia Phillies. With the addition of All-Star’s Bryce Harper, Jean Segura, JT Realmuto, and more, the Phillies are poised to make a playoff push this season. Tickets tend to start as a low as $20 for most games, but can be a little higher on the weekend. Make sure to check the Phillies website for the full slate of games and student discounts from time to time! Getting to Citizens Bank Park is an easy 40-minute drive from campus or a simple trip on the Regional Rail with a transfer on the Broad Street Line to NRG Station.
Enjoy Valley Forge National Historical Park
Looking for a good place to talk a stroll on a warm spring day? Valley Forge is a perfect spot located only a few miles from campus. You can walk the rolling hills of one of the most historic Revolutionary War locations completely free of charge.
Walk down Lancaster Avenue
While Lancaster Avenue is a favorite spot for Cabrini students all year long, it is at its best in the spring when the warmer weather arrives. Whether you want to fly solo or go with a group of friends, Lancaster Avenue in Radnor is a great strip of restaurants, shops, and entertainment. Lancaster Avenue is accessible by car, the Cabrini shuttle, or only a 20-minute walk from campus!
Sign-up for EPIC Week trip to Six Flags Great Adventure
Almost as a grand finale for the year, make sure to visit the SEaL office to sign up for the EPIC Week trip to Six Flags Great Adventure. For $15 you will get round-trip transportation and your ticket for the day to Six Flags on Sunday, April 28th. This is a great deal, so make sure you act fast before the trip fills up!
These are only a few of the great off-campus things to do with your friends during the springtime, and there are plenty of great on-campus offerings as well! Make sure to check the monthly calendar to see all of the events organized on campus.
