The best places to chill on campus

Posted on 10/31/2018 10:29:32 AM by Connor Tustin

The mid-term point of the semester just passed, and things are really starting to pile up as the semester moves on. With this comes a good amount of stress. As a student, there really is no way to avoid the inevitable stress that comes with a college workload, but the key to succeeding in college is handling that stress.

One of the best ways to handle stress is to find your literal comfort zone. For some people that could mean just relaxing in their dorm room, but for others, they need to find a unique place to go. Cabrini has many “chill” places on campus that offer students a great place to reduce stress.

The Dixon Center gym is a great place to go relive a good amount of stress during a busy week. With a student ID, students can check into the gym and go work out free of charge. This is a great opportunity to go burn off some energy and relieve stress by hitting the weights.

Does eating help to take the stress away for you? Then you're just in luck, as Cabrini has multiple places to not only go to eat but also hang out with your friends. The Cabrini Bean and Sandella’s, both located in the Widener Center, are two great places to grab a bite to eat and take a load off of your back. Grab a Starbucks Frappuccino from The Bean and a find a good place to sit and take a breather. Coffee, not your thing? Have no fear, The Bean also offers sandwiches, pastries, beverages, and more!

Looking for a meal? Then head to Sandella’s, where you can pick up a freshly made burrito or quesadilla.

Interested in an all-out buffet? Then Cavs Corner in Founders Hall is the place for you. Cavs Corner requires one meal swipe and you can get unlimited food while inside the dining hall. Options include pizza, burgers, grilled cheese, hometown cooking, an action bar, a breakfast bar, and a mindful station.

Now that your hunger is satisfied, walk out to the commons and find one of the big Adirondack chairs to relax in. Better yet, during the summer and spring months, hop into one of the hammocks and take a nice outdoor nap.

If you're looking for a quiet place to go, the Holy Spirit Library is just the place for you. The library offers flexible hours, both in the early morning and night, always catering to students. My recommendation is to find a place up on the top floor, as its always the quietest.

Now my biggest hidden gem to chill out at, the Mansion. Many people just look at the Mansion as an office building or a hub for special events at Cabrini. However, it's much more than that. The building is always open to the school community and is a great place to sit and chill. The ambiance of sitting in the foyer is second to none and offers a spectacular place to take a deep breath.

Whether you need a quiet place to relieve your stress or the hustle and bustle of a college campus, Cabrini offers it all. College can be a stressful time, but stay strong, find your niche, and you’ll push through with no problem.
