Celebrating the Halloween Season at Cabrini

Posted on 10/12/2018 12:48:36 PM by Connor Tustin

October has arrived on campus, which means it's time to celebrate Halloween!

There are plenty of spooky things to do on campus and within the surrounding areas to celebrate the holiday! The Student Engagement and Leadership office, also known as SEaL, helps to organize many of the events on campus.

In order to celebrate the Halloween season, the SEaL office and CAP Board have organized a whole lineup of offerings for students to enjoy.

To kick off “Freak Week” events, CAP Board is hosting a Zombie Man Hunt on October 19 at 9pm, located on the Commons.

The following day, CAP Board is offering a trip to Dorney Park’s Halloween Haunt for all students. One of the great things about Cabrini is big event offerings like this for a small price! Students can buy tickets for $15, which includes park admission and transportation to Dorney Park and back!

To continue with the Freak Week festivities, the Athletic department is hosting its annual “Halloween Havoc” on October 25. The event, which is held in the Nerney Field House at the Dixon Center, features student-athletes dressing in their best costumes, Halloween-centric competitions, and performances by the Cabrini cheerleaders and dance team!

October 27 features the biggest Halloween event of them all, the Haunted Mansion, located in where else but the historic Cabrini University Mansion. Students can volunteer to be scare actors for the night or just opt to walk through the haunted corridors of the Mansion. The event is open to all students and community members!

To round out Freak Week, WYBF Cavalier Radio is hosting a Spooky Scavenger Hunt on October 30. Get a group of friends together or go solo to compete in a special Halloween scavenger hunt!

Although there is plenty of Halloween fun to be had on campus, the Philadelphia area has plenty of haunted mazes and events to offer, too!

Only a short ride from campus in Philadelphia is the world-renowned Terror Behind the Walls at Eastern State Penitentiary. This insane haunted house has been regarded as one of the scariest in the country, taking place in a historic prison.

If you are looking to take more of a drive, Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ, celebrates its yearly Fright Fest through the end of October. Fright Fest combines the thrills of world-class roller coasters and spooky haunts to celebrate the Halloween season.

Not interested in the scary Halloween offerings? Well a student favorite at Cabrini is a visit to Linvilla Orchards. Located in Media, Linvilla offers hayrides, pumpkin picking, a farm market, and more to help get you in the fall spirit.

No matter what you may choose, there is no doubt that Cabrini and the surrounding areas have plenty of opportunities to help you celebrate the Halloween season!
