Cabrini In The Fall

Posted on 10/26/2018 8:51:26 PM by Julia Smith

Take a walk outside and you'll be immersed in an abundance of colorful trees, piles of fallen leaves, and the refreshing feeling of crisp, October air. This is Cabrini in the fall. Personally, this is one of my favorite times of the year, especially since I get to spend it on our beautiful campus. With fall, comes a ton of fun activities, events, and opportunities both on and off campus. Here are just a few ways you can make the most of your fall season.

1. Linvilla

Almost everybody you meet in the Delaware County area will rave about Linvilla Orchards, especially in the fall. Linvilla is the place to find all of your go-to fall items, such as pumpkins and apples, warm donuts, apple cider, and pumpkin pies (just to name a few). They also offer a variety of fall-themed activities, such as pumpkin and apple picking, corn mazes, tractor rides, and even a farm-style petting zoo. It is free to visit, however, each activity varies in price.

2. Wolff's

Just like Linvilla, Wolff's Apple House has everything you need to make your fall season the greatest. It offers a wide range of locally grown apples year round, as well as homemade apple and pumpkin pies. Wolff's also provides a diverse range of other fresh produce and flower arrangements in their Farmer's Market for affordable prices.

3. Bates Motel & Haunted Hayride

If you're looking for something a bit spooky this fall season, then Bates Motel is the place to go. It is based on the famous cult horror movie by the same name and features a super scary haunted house and hayride attractions. If you are somebody who loves to get scared, I would definitely recommend going to Bates. It was recently named the "Number One Haunted Attraction" by USA Today, as well as several other national publications. Tickets are very affordable and begin at $15 each.

4. Eastern State Penitentiary

If you read my previous blog, "Five Fun Things to Do in Philly", then you already know about Eastern State. However, during the Halloween season, this attraction opens up after hours for "Terror Beyond the Walls", a haunted, scream-filled experience within the prison walls. This six-attraction event includes a different horror experience within each section of the prison for about $39 a ticket. Although it is a bit more expensive, it is definitely worth the thrill and is a must if you are a Halloween fanatic.

5. Cabrini's Haunted Mansion

If you are looking to save some money and stay on campus, you can still get that spooky experience with Carini's annual Haunted Mansion. Every year, Cabrini redecorates the Mansion and turns it into a Halloween attraction for all students to enjoy. It is one of the university's most well-known events and is always a ton of fun. Whether you enjoy being scared or not, I encourage all Cavaliers to get together with some friends and experience all of the hard work that the students and staff put into creating this fun activity.

Hopefully these suggestions have gotten you excited for the fall season (if you weren't already), and are helpful if you ever get stuck on how to spend your autumn weekends. These are just a few ideas out of many, so be sure to check your Cabrini calendars for other upcoming fall events and be on the lookout for November's calendar!
