Traveling to London with Cabrini University

Posted on 4/27/2018 2:31:42 PM by Julia Cattani

Are you a student of theater or simply a student who can appreciate the art? If so, Cabrini University has a great opportunity for you! Every other year, the English Department has a course in which you can study the art of theater, and parttake in a study abroad trip to London to experience international theater!

I, as a student of English and Theatre, am leaving for my first trip to England with Cabrini Universitay on May 10, 2018. Words can't explain how excited I am for this experience. While I have traveled internationally before, I have never had the pleasure of experiencing theater outside of the United States.

During this trip, we have the privelege of seeing three professional productions, which are all incorporated in the price of the trip itself. One of the productions we will be seeing is a performance of Hamlet at the Shakespearean Globe, after we take an acting class from one of the actors themselves!

By giving us these opportunities, Cabrini aids us in becoming more cultured people and professionals, allowing us a step further than most students are able to have at this point in our studies. Cabrini truly values their creative students and strives to fulfill their need for culture and practical experience.

As a student who transferred to Cabrini after studying at a school that had an entire Theater Arts program, I can say that this short study abroad experience is something unique to Cabrini. Allowing the theater students endless opportunities to experience theater in the greater Philadelphia area is amazing in itself, but having the opportunity to fully experience professional theater overseas is something that very few schools are able to offer.

There are many reasons as to why transferring to Cabrini University was one of the best decisions that I have made in my academic career, but this trip to London will by far be my favorite memory in the years to come.
