Dear Cabrini community,
The tragedy in Buffalo is an unfortunate, yet all too common, occurrence in our society. As we mourn with the families of the innocents gunned down in the supermarket yesterday and attempt to understand this unimaginable act of hate and violence, we pray for peace in their community.
We also pray for the healing of our world. We all should be able to go about our daily lives without fear, and this act of domestic terrorism has taken another piece of that away from us.
Cabrini University condemns all acts of racism, violence, and hate. We call upon our community to continue to live our Education of the Heart and commit ourselves to justice wherever and whenever we see injustice.
Let us, too, live the words of Pope Francis, as he said, “The problem of intolerance must be confronted in all its forms: Wherever any minority is persecuted and marginalized because of its religious convictions or ethnic identity, the well-being of society as a whole is endangered, and each one of us must feel affected.”
Please join us on Monday, May 16, as we pray for peace in the Bruckmann Chapel of St. Joseph at 12:30pm. Due to technical difficulties, the Mass will not be livestreamed.
In the Cabrini Spirit,
Donald B. Taylor, PhD
