Business Programs Receive High Assessment Scores and New Accreditation

Posted on 3/23/2021 2:37:06 PM

Cabrini University’s Business Department has outperformed many other universities in the Peregrine Business Program Outbound Exam, offered annually to graduating seniors across the country.

“The Peregrine exam results are a testament to the quality of the University’s Business curricula and the successful learning outcomes of our graduates, said Timothy Mantz, DBA, Dean, School of Business, Arts and Media.

Cabrini offers programs in Accounting, Business Management, Finance, International Business, Marketing, Business Analytics, Economics, Entrepreneurship, and Sports Management and concentrations in Advertising, Nonprofit Management, and Public Administration.

“Outbound exam results are a direct measure of academic learning since the students taking the outbound exams have completed or nearly completed the degree program,” according to the Peregrine Global Services website. The discipline-specific assessments measure how effective the educational process is for business programs by testing students’ knowledge level.

“The Peregrine Outbound Exam objectively measures the effectiveness of a school’s academic program,” said Mantz. “Our Business students’ scores are extremely high compared to other institutions.”

Overall, the institutional score of 65.46 percent for Business students in Cabrini’s Class of 2021 was more than 10 percentage points higher than other colleges and universities included in the reported results of the Peregrine Exam this spring.

Cabrini undergraduates’ test scores in most specific disciplines also ranked above those of business students at other schools.

In another indication of high academic quality, the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), a leading specialized accreditation body for business education, has granted the University’s Business Department full accreditation. Achieving this status requires a demanding internal and external review to ensure that programs meet established standards of excellence.

“This accreditation reflects Cabrini’s academic strengths and resources in critical Business disciplines,” said Chioma Ugochukwu, PhD, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. “Our Business students are well-prepared to flourish in today’s ever-changing global marketplace.”

Mantz praised the University’s stakeholders involved in the accreditation process.

“I am proud of our students, faculty, and alumni for their demonstrated accomplishments,” said Mantz. “Our ACBSP accreditation confirms their success and dedication to experiential learning in Business fields through our mission-based Education of the Heart.”

Celebrating 32 years of excellence in global business program accreditation, ACBSP is the only organization offering specialized business accreditation for all degree levels, from associate to baccalaureate to doctoral degree programs, and the first to offer certificate accreditation. ACBSP accreditation certifies that the teaching and learning processes within the programs offered through the Business Department at Cabrini University meet the rigorous educational standards established by ACBSP.

Based on the Baldridge Education Criteria for Performance Excellence, ACBSP accreditation evaluates aspects of leadership, strategic planning, relationships with stakeholders, quality of academic programs, faculty credentials, and educational support to determine whether or not the business programs offer a rigorous educational experience and demonstrate continuous quality improvement.

“Cabrini University has shown its commitment to teaching excellence and to the process of quality improvement by participating in the accreditation process,” said ACBSP Chief Accreditation Officer Steve Parscale, PhD. “This accreditation is evidence that Cabrini University is committed to providing the highest quality business education for its students.”
