Cabrini extends admission deadlines to help students during pandemic

Posted on 5/21/2020 4:48:51 PM

Cabrini University has extended its application deadlines to help those students making decisions about college amidst the global COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.

As graduating high school seniors wrap up the academic year working remotely and celebrating virtual graduation ceremonies, many have had difficulty determining the best path forward. Many were waiting to make this important decision until they could visit college campuses, attend in-person accepted student events, or even shadow or stay overnight with students at their top college choices—events that were unfortunately canceled or postponed due to COVID-19 mitigation measures forcing higher education institutions to close their campuses to all but essential personnel.

In recognition of the importance for students considering their college options to get a feel for campus life, Cabrini quickly prioritized the virtual event space in order to provide these students with the answers to their most pressing questions about life as a Cavalier. Cabrini’s Accepted Student Day took place as a virtual event on April 25, rescheduled from an on-campus event on March 29. The institution also hosted a Virtual Town Hall for accepted students and their families on May 11. Cabrini’s next event, a Conversation with Cavaliers, a live virtual meeting for accepted students, parents, and family members, will be held May 28, 6-7pm, and the Spring Open House will be conducted virtually on May 30.

“Because of the COVID-19 pandemic and its mitigation measures, we have heard from students—both high school seniors and those currently enrolled at other colleges and universities—that their plans have changed and that they are interested in applying to Cabrini University,” said George Walter, Cabrini Vice President of Enrollment Management. “We’re here to help in any way we can as students make this very important decision in such unprecedented times. To that end, the University is extending its admission process so that students feel comfortable and can make informed decisions surrounding their future. We will continue to consider applications for the fall 2020 semester, and will also provide full consideration for need-based financial aid and scholarships.”
