Cabrini CRU5Hes It with New Meal Options

Posted on 7/18/2019 8:57:15 AM

Cabrini is ready to CRU5H the fall semester.

The first floor of the Widener Center is being upgraded for fall 2019 to incorporate a new dining option, CRU5H (pronounced Crush), a fast-casual grill that incorporates five different dining options: Fun on a Bun (burgers), B.A.D. Egg (breakfast all day), Appz (appetizers), Mexcellente (Mexican-style cuisine), and Zerts (desserts).

Within each option, students will have the ability to include additional “Styles” and/or “Flavor Blasts” to their meal for an additional cost. When ordering a burger, for example, students can add “My Big Fat Greek” flavor style, which would be a burger with feta cheese spread, pickled red onions, and pico de gallo.

Select gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian options will also be available.

Students will be able to order their meals at digital kiosks and pay at a traditional checkout line, which will accept student meal plans, credit cards, or cash payments.

The meal exchange rate is being increased from $5.25 to $6 and can be used at CRU5H or The Bean. Students will also now be able to exchange a meal during four different time periods rather than three to better fit with their flexible and varied schedules.

Cav’s Late Night will be moved to CRU5H, which will offer a wider selection of food and a gathering space more conducive to groups. Cav’s Corner will remain a dining option during daytime hours.

“Hosting Late Night in the Widener Center, at the innovative CRU5H, allows students to have more food options, and food options that are more closely aligned with what students have been saying they want,” said Tracy Eells, Sodexo General Manager. “Additionally, the renovations will make Widener more group-friendly. Students will just have a better time there, and Cabrini will be able to offer more student programming in the space.”

In addition to the new dining option, the upgrade includes a complete renovation of the space, including a new floorplan, paint, furniture, and décor. A streamlined Cabrini Bean will still occupy part of the Widener Center’s first floor, offering Starbucks beverages and pastries. Pre-packaged salads, fresh produce stands, and prepared ready-to-heat-and-eat grocery items like mac and cheese will also be available for purchase.

Additionally, a new vending machine lounge area, accessible 24 hours a day, will open in Founder’s Hall, Room 102. The space will have seating and multiple vending machines. Accepting credit card payments will be traditional vending machines as well as a Starbucks Serenade, which will brew Starbucks hot and iced coffee, hot cocoa, and chai lattes. An “on the spot” vending machine, stocked daily with fresh fruit, salads, and more, that will accept Flex Dollars and Cav's Cash.
