Cabrini Partners with Mexican Government to Provide Scholarships

Posted on 5/21/2018 9:42:09 AM

This month, the Mexican Government presented Cabrini University with a grant award of $27,000, as part of the IME-Becas Scholarship Program, which will be distributed to Cabrini students of Mexican ancestry to support their enrollment at Cabrini during the 2018–19 academic year.

The Consulate of Mexico in Philadelphia honored Cabrini during a ceremony on May 7 during a symbolic signing and check presentation.

“Part of our mission at Cabrini is to close the gap on access to quality education,” said Mark Kiselica, PhD, Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. “Our commitment to serving students begins with access, and continues with our supportive, inclusive and family-like atmosphere on campus, our small student-to-faculty ratio, and the campus resources we have in place to help students succeed. We are deeply grateful to the Mexican Government for supporting this commitment through our particular efforts to welcome and support students of Mexican ancestry to Cabrini.”

Also, on May 1, the Mexican Consulate honored Cabrini for its support of the Mexican-American community on the steps of City Hall in Philadelphia during the flag-raising ceremony, marking the start of Mexico Week in Philadelphia. During the 2017–18 academic year, the Mexican Government awarded a grant for $10,000 to support a Financial Literacy Education Program administered by the Cabrini University Center on Immigration and provided to the Hispanic community in the Greater Norristown area.
