Cabrini Students Compete in Leadership Challenge

Posted on 4/20/2018 9:00:00 AM

RADNOR, Pa. (April 20, 2018)—Last weekend, Cabrini students put their leadership skills to the test as part of the Collegiate Leadership Competition.

A national initiative, the Collegiate Leadership Competition hosts regional events that challenge students to put classroom theories into action through a series of critical thinking tasks. At the Philadelphia-area regional event, teams from six local universities competed against each other.

“It was an honor to join the other universities and provide an opportunity for students to synthesize leadership theory through these competitive real-life simulations," said Maria Vizcarrondo, Executive Director of the Nerney Leadership Institute at Cabrini University. “I’m proud of our team for both representing the leadership program at Cabrini and also helping initiate this competition which is quickly growing into an international program.”

Most Cabrini participants of the Collegiate Leadership Competition, which is offered through a new course that applies critical research and inquiry to practical competencies, are Leadership Studies minors at the University or have participated in Cabrini’s leadership Learning Community.

At the end of the competition, the Cabrini team nominated sophomore psychology major Emma Turnbach as their Most Valuable Player for motivating and engaging the entire team during the challenges through her positive energy and leadership.
