Posted on 5/9/2017 3:56:05 PM

Four Cabrini teams claimed conference championships this spring: men’s lacrosse, women’s lacrosse, men’s golf, and men’s tennis.

The Cabrini men's lacrosse team captured its 17th consecutive Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) championship, as it topped Marywood University 18-6 on May 6. With the team’s victory, the No. 9 Cavaliers secured their bid for their NCAA Tournament, which opened at home on May 10, with a 22-10 win over Colorado College

Continuing with consecutive championships, the women’s lacrosse team claimed its sixth consecutive CSAC title—and their 16th overall conference title— with a 20-9 win over Marywood University. They earned an automatic bid for the NCAA Tournament, which they will open at No. 5 Franklin & Marshall College on May 14.

With a two-day score of 611, the golf team won their fifth CSAC title, their first since 2014. Head Coach Tony Verde, PhD, was also named CSAC Coach of the Year for the third time, after leading the Cavaliers to top five finishes in all 13 of its 2016–17 events. The team received an automatic bid for the 2017 NCAA Championship, May 16–19 in Florida.

The Cabrini men's tennis team claimed the program's first championship since 2001 and fourth title all-time with a decisive 5-0 win over Immaculata University at Philadelphia's Legacy Tennis Center on April 22. The team will make its first NCAA Tournament appearance on May 11, as it meets The College of New Jersey in a first-round match at Middlebury College in Vermont.
