RADNOR, Pa. (July 15, 2014) — Cabrini hosted nearly 100 U.S. and international students July 7-11 as part of the National Hispanic Institute (NHI) 2014 Collegiate World Series.

NHI is an organization that provides Latino youth with opportunities to envision themselves as future leaders, and this event prepared rising high school seniors for higher education.

During the conference, high-achieving Latino students from across the U.S., Mexico, Panama, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic gained insight into the college admissions process, financial aid, and strategic planning for personal and professional success.

“NHI’s mission to develop leaders through personal excellence, a strong belief in family and culture, and service to others aligns with Cabrini’s mission and commitment to the first-generation college students the College traditionally serves,” said Cabrini President Donald B. Taylor, Ph.D.

Cabrini faculty and staff participated in a college fair and conducted an admissions information session for the students. Campus Philly, a nonprofit organization that encourages college students to study, explore, live, and work in the Greater Philadelphia tri-state region, also presented about life in the Philadelphia area.

Taylor also said, “The NHI Collegiate World Series was the first of what I hope to be many efforts by Cabrini to serve both Latino and international students. The president, staff, and volunteers of NHI will continue to support Cabrini’s efforts to recruit, retain, mentor, and graduate Latino and international students.”

“Cabrini is excited to host the Collegiate World Series to further engage with the growing number of college-bound students in the Latino community,” says Cabrini President Donald B. Taylor, Ph.D.

The Collegiate World Series is the third and final event for high school students in the NHI leadership series. NHI has more than 85,000 alumni, 98 percent of whom received undergraduate degrees.
