RADNOR, Pa. (Sept. 30, 2014) —On Oct. 8 at 5:30 p.m., Cabrini will host local experts in domestic violence awareness at “Keeping Children Safe: Child Victims of Domestic Violence.”
The panel and professional development presentation is geared toward educators who may encounter child victims of domestic violence in the classroom.
Cabrini College Assistant Professor of Education, Colleen Lelli, Ed.D., will facilitate the event, and panelist include:
- Kelsey Alderman, Children’s Advocate, Laurel House
- Mercedes Cassese-MacDonald, Family Counselor, Domestic Violence Center of Chester County
- Michele Kristofco, Personnel Administrator and Community Relations Specialist, Montgomery County Office of Children and Youth
- Maggie Sweeney, Forensic Interviewer, Mission Kids Child Advocacy Center
Presenters will examine warning signs and strategies to best teach children suffering from trauma as a result of witnessing domestic violence, and also discuss legal responsibilities and mandated reporting laws in Pennsylvania.
Sponsored by the Barbara and John Jordan Endowed Fund to Promote Domestic Violence Education, the event is part of an annual program to promote domestic violence awareness at the College.
