Culturally Academic Curriculum and Education Working Group

  • How do we develop a culturally competent curriculum that shows our commitment to dismantling racism and our appreciation of diversity?
  • How do we develop culturally competent students?
  • How do we train and educate our faculty to be qualified and comfortable to engage students and facilitate discussions on the topics of racism, diversity, equity and inclusion?
  • How do we create/enhance diversity education and training for faculty, staff, hiring committees, onboarding committees and RA’s?
  • How do we increase university support of research, scholarship and creative expression addressing diversity and inclusion issues in disciplinary and interdisciplinary fields?

Transparency and Reporting Working Group

  • How do we conduct an accurately and repeatably campus climate survey of faculty, staff and students, to assess and understand opinions on the following (diversity, discrimination, inclusivity, lifestyle, comfortability)
  • How do we Improve the campus climate for all students, faculty and staff?
    How do we update students, parents, and alumni with initiatives and data regarding diversity, equity and inclusion?
  • How do we create an active communication plan to support campus recognition of diversity and inclusion achievements?

Policy and Auditing Working Group

  • Identify and validate current and past incidents of hate speech/acts and discrimination within the Cabrini community.
  • How do we establish a more confidential way for students to report racial/hate acts, racial/hate speech and misconduct?
  • How do we address policies and processes regarding student infractions on racial/hate acts, racial/hate speech and identity-based student misconduct.
  • Are there campus policies and practices sufficient to support the needs of diverse students and students with disabilities?

Cultivate a Welcoming Campus Climate Working Group

  • How do we connect students of color and LGBTQIA+ students, with their student peers, faculty, and alumni?
  • How do we expand and enhance campus diversity and inclusion programming and events to ensure broad participation?
  • How do we provide a safe, comfortable, equitable experience for ALL residents, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, socioeconomic class, (dis)ability, first language, gender, sexual orientation, or any other social or cultural identifier?
  • How do we achieve a balance of representation among students and a commitment to recruitment, retention and completion?
  • How do we improve support, communication, and protocols for student protesters and students who experience bias-related incidents and identity-based safety concerns?

Fundraising and Partnerships Working Group

  • How do we obtaining dedicated funding to support Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives?
  • How do we establish partnerships with other institutions?
  • How do we create extended community partnerships to support the needs of diverse students and to serve as resources?
  • How do we develop and sustain meaningful outreach programs and partnerships with our diverse local communities, neighbors and authorities?
  • How do we engage alumni and obtain their support for DEI Initiatives?
