Diversity Initiatives

The Office of University Diversity Initiatives works to provide opportunities specifically for Cabrini’s multicultural population. Through community collaboration, UDI is able to offer several opportunities including those listed below. 

 


PCOM-Collaboration Agreement: African American and Latino Male Summer Research Fellowship 

With its' first cohort of three students beginning in Summer 2019, this collaboration was created by both Chief Diversity Officers at each institution to help increase African-American and Latino male involvement in the Sciences. A selected group of male students from Cabrini will spend 8-10 weeks working with PCOM Faculty developing their projects and research. This Fellowship will expose students to methodologies, research techniques, analysis, and technical writing. Furthermore, students will have the opportunity to co-author and present research along with PCOM Faculty. Those who complete their Summer Research Fellowship will also receive a stipend.

Men of Color Learning Community 

The Men of Color Leadership Academy at Cabrini University offers a safe and brave community for Men of Color who will create their own definition of success, develop life skills, articulate their leadership philosophy, and foster a culture of academic achievement.  Each cohort has interactions with professional Men of Color in both academia as well as industry who will help with professional networking and potential opportunities for internships, research, and employment. Additionally, this community is designed to have these young men truly feel as though they are a part of the Cabrini community.

ROSE Program (Resilience Outreach Sisterhood Program) 

In this workshop series, participants from Cabrini University, Eastern University, and Montgomery County Community College (MCCC) come together for fellowship and information that will help young women of color navigate the challenges they face in college and beyond. Topics discussed include self-care, personal empowerment, financial literacy, and career counseling. In addition to connecting with revolutionary-minded faculty/staff, students will also hear from guest speakers from the Philadelphia area.

Increasing Employment Opportunities for BIPOC Students 

University Diversity Initiatives provides exclusive employment opportunities to BIPOC students in support of their success. Opportunities include virtual or in-person Job Fairs and special partnerships with organizations such as Vanguard, Independence Blue Cross, JANNEY Financial, Lincoln Financial, Concilio, and Children's Crisis Treatment Center to name a few. UDI is always building new relationships with organizations that proudly support Cabrini Students.
