FAQ’s BREAK HOUSING 

THANKSGIVING & WINTER BREAK FAQ’s: 

I do not plan to return to campus housing for the Spring 23 semester. How do I check out of my room?  

ANSWER: If a student is not returning for the Spring 23 semester, the student can checkout of their room at Thanksgiving Break and not return or Winter Break and not return in the spring. The student needs to complete the Housing Cancelation Application for the Spring 23 semester through their MyHousing account. The student will need to move everything out of their room and return their key to the Residence Life Office. The room should be left in the condition it was when they moved-in.  Dealine to move out is the last day of the fall 2022 semester.

Can I stay on campus over Thanksgiving break and will I be charged? 

ANSWER: Yes, you can apply to stay on campus over Thanksgiving break by completing the Thanksgiving Break Stay Application.

Can I remain on campus over Winter break? 

ANSWER:  Yes, you can apply to stay on campus over Winter break.  Please log onto the MyHousing portal and complete the Winter Break Stay application.  The Winter Break Stay Application will open after Thanksgiving break. Res Life will review all applications and notify you if you are approved and if you will be charged for your stay. 

Will I be charged if I stay on campus over Winter break? 

ANSWER:  Unless you have an on campus job, you WILL be charged to stay on campus over Winter break. Rates to stay over break will be released in the coming weeks.  

Will Dining Services be open over Winter Break? 

ANSWER:  No, the University is closed and dining services will not be open. 

Will the shuttle be running over Winter Break? 

ANSWER:  No, the University is closed and the shuttle service will not be running. 

Will the Mailroom be open over Winter break? 

ANSWER:  No, the Mailroom will not be open over Winter break, as the University is closed. 

I do not have a roommate; will I be given a roommate in the Spring 23 semester?  

ANSWER: If you have an open space in your room, you may get a roommate for the Spring 23 semester. Residence Life will do their best to work with all parties involved to ensure the roommate is a good fit, if a roommate needs to be assigned to the room.  Residence Life will assign roommates as needed based on availability.
