Library Technology

Holy Spirit Library is pleased to offer the Cabrini community access to current technology for research, collaboration, and personal use. The library provides more than forty network computers to access Cavalog and electronic books, databases, ejournals, Internet, and Microsoft Office applications. The majority of library computers are connected to network printers. To access the library computers, a valid Cabrini username and password is required.

On the main level, twenty computers are available. On the lower level, the library’s Information Literacy Instruction Lab provides an environment for librarians to offer course-integrated information literacy instruction. The lab houses 22 network computers, a Sympodium, and DVD/VHS player. These computers are available for the Cabrini community to use when information literacy instruction is not in session.

Tablets and Laptops

A number of Surfaces are available for students to borrow for a seven-day loan period. Surfaces may be renewed once, and a tablet late fee is incurred if it is not returned on time. You must login for the first time before leaving campus so that it will work off our wireless network.

Several laptop computers are available for in-building use. These computers are equipped with Microsoft Office applications and connect to the library’s wireless network.

Printing and Scanning

The majority of library computers are connected to network printers. A color printer and two scanners are available on the main floor.

Saving Files to Library Computers

Saving documents on the desktop of library computers is prohibited, as ITR cannot ensure the proper storage of these files. Cabrini affiliates are encouraged to use their network space or use a USB thumb drive.
