Faculty members interested in having the Library obtain particular titles should send a request to the Library, signed by the Department Chair.
Within budget constraints, we will try to obtain the requested title.
Holy Spirit Library is governed by Pennsylvania Act 1984-90, Section 428 Library Circulation Records, which states:
- “Records related to the circulation of library materials which contain the names or other personally identifying details regarding the users of ... the library of any university, college, or educational institution chartered by the Commonwealth ... shall be confidential and shall not be made available to anyone except by a court order in a criminal proceeding.”
Holy Spirit Library adheres to the copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) which governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material.
Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction.
One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be “used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research.”
If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of “fair use,” that user may be liable for copyright infringement.
Holy Spirit welcomes donations of books and other library materials from patrons and community members.
Please consider the following guidelines before making a donation:
- Donated items will be reviewed and when appropriate will be added to the library’s collection, sold at our ongoing book sale, or donated to a book charity.
- Items that are musty or otherwise unusable are not suitable for donation and will be discarded if received as a donation.
- The library will provide a letter of recognition to document the donation if you would like.
