Virtual Information Session for Employees
The Plan for Fall 2020

We've been preparing and considering every detail to welcome you and our students safely back to campus. We know you may have questions and concerns, and we want to hear from you. To provide you with more information about our plans for the fall semester and give you the opportunity to ask your questions, we're holding a Virtual Information Session.

These unprecedented times have called for us to work together as a community to ensure the safe and appropriate delivery of the robust Cabrini experience. We expect all employees to follow the guidelines in this web resource to the fullest extent possible to maintain a safe and productive environment for all.
Key Points Regarding the Academic Calendar and Modality
On-campus instruction for students will resume on August 31, to be conducted with a mix of in-person, hyflex, and remote modalities and with intentional safeguards and mitigation measures.
Classes of 24 or more students will be offered as online or in a hyflex modality, in which the class is divided into groups that alternate in-person attendance and attendance via syn chronous livestream. Classes conducted in person will be designated a classroom/meeting space that can accommodate appropriate physical distancing.
Following the Thanksgiving break, classes and finals will be conducted in an online-only modality. To accommodate this modified schedule, the fall 2020 academic calendar has been adjusted: Classes will not be held on Labor Day (September 7), but will be held during the originally scheduled Fall Break (October 12) and Cabrini Day (November 10). Classes will end on December 11, and finals will take place in an online format December 14-16.
Residence halls will open for Move-In prior to the semester start as previously scheduled, with modifications for mitigation measures. Residence halls, Holy Spirit Library, and dining services will remain open after the Thanksgiving break to provide options for students when classes change to an all-online modality.
Workplace Expectations and Guidelines
Travel: If you’ve traveled to a region where COVID-19 cases are rising (as listed on the Pennsylvania Department of Health website), quarantine at home for 14 days befor e returning to campus. Alert your supervisor and Human Resources (firstname.lastname@example.org, 610.902.8760) regarding any changes to your schedule.
Exposure: If you are exposed to a person diagnosed as having COVID-19, quarantine at home for 14 days before returning to campus. Alert your supervisor and Human Resources (email@example.com, 610.902.8760) regarding any changes to your schedule.
Positive COVID-19 diagnosis: At any time if you receive a positive COVID-19 test result, isolate at home for three days after the last experienced symptoms (including fever) and at least 10 days after symptom onset. If you are asymptomatic, you can return to campus 10 days after the positive COVID-19 test result. If you become symptomatic, isolate for three days after the last experienced symptoms and at least 10 days after symptom onset.
Should your work schedule or on-campus availability change for any reason, alert your supervisor and Human Resources (firstname.lastname@example.org, 610.902.8760) as soon as possible.
Symptom Monitoring Requirement
Prior to daily campus arrival, you are required to take your temperature and take note of any other symptoms indicative of COVID-19. If your temperature is 100.4 degrees or higher, or if you are experiencing any of the following symptoms, stay home. Alert your supervisor and Human Resources (email@example.com, 610.902.8760) that you will not be on campus. Monitor your symptoms and reach out to your doctor as warranted.
You should be symptom-free before returning to campus. If you are diagnosed with COVID-19, you should isolate at home for three days after the last experienced symptoms and at least 10 days after symptom onset.

Cabrini is exploring a HIPAA-compliant self-reporting system in which employees will be required to regularly submit a recorded temperature and other information indicative of COVID-19 infection.
Symptoms Indicative of COVID-19
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Repeated shaking with chills
- Runny nose or new sinus congestion
- Muscle pain
- Sore throat
- Unexplained gastrointestinal symptoms
- New loss of taste or smell

While a streamlined crew of essential employees have continued to work onsite throughout the mitigation measures, more employees will require campus access as we near the fall semester. Employees should take a staggered approach for returning to work, with the full list of essential employees returning first.
You should communicate with your area’s leadership to determine return-to-work schedules. As per Governor Wolf’s July 15 update to mitigation measures, you are encouraged to work remotely if possible.
The return to campus should happen in phases, as some offices will require sooner on-campus attendance to prepare for students’ arrival. All departments should have on-campus coverage when students return to campus (beginning August 3, 2020).
Please route any requests for campus access through your area’s leadership, who can incorporate that to be considered as return-to-work timing is further planned.
As departments return to campus, employees are encouraged to participate in multiple options for scheduling and staffing that can help maintain physical distancing and reduce population density within work spaces.

Work from home: Those who are able to fulfill some or all of their work responsibilities remotely are encouraged to continue to do so. These arrangements can be sche duled with a partial day/week schedule and should be coordinated by your area’s leadership to ensure appropriate coverage.
Alternating days: When creating schedules for in-office coverage, departments should consider partial staffing on alternating days. In addition to encouraging physical distancing, this would also limit potential exposure should anyone become ill and/or be diagnosed with COVID-19.
Offset arrival and departure times: Set workday start and end times typically contribute to pedestrian traffic in common areas (stairwells and hallways, etc.). Although everyone is expec ted to wear a mask when in common areas, scheduling employees with staggered arrival and departure times will help accommodate physical distancing guidelines and manage population density.
All offices should remain open and adequately staffed during the appropriate business hours throughout the semester. It is important to maintain a high level of service for students and outside constituencies. Arrangements for coverage should be made through your area’s leadership.
According to the CDC, individuals with certain conditions—and certain populations—may be at a higher risk for COVID-19 infection. Those conditions/populations include:
- Older adults (age 65 years and older)
- Asthma (moderate to severe)
- Chronic lung disease
- Serious heart conditions
- Chronic kidney disease being treated with dialysis
- Severe obesity
- Being immunocompromised
If you would normally work on campus and have concerns about doing so due to a medical condition or COVID-19-related personal need (childcare, eldercare, family illness, personal illness, health risk, or medical condition that precludes you from wearing a mask), please complete the Telework Request Form (PDF) for consideration by the Office of Human Resources and your supervisor and/or dean.
