Professor Missy Terlecki in class

Edna Barenbaum, PhD

Professor, Psychology

Edna M. Barenbaum, PhD, came to Cabrini in 1984 because of the strong psychology curriculum and the faculty's ability to tailor the academic experience to students and help them enrich their learning.

Each day in the classroom, Barenbaum brings her enthusiasm for learning, and can truly see it radiate to her students as they aspire to comprehend the material. She describes her teaching philosophy as “a love of learning enabling each student to realize their potential.”

Barenbaum is passionate about the development of tests for depression and anxiety in youth, and researches it in her spare time.

In 2006, she presented her studies at the 15th Annual World Congress on Learning Disabilities in a piece titled The Effectiveness of Parent Report In Diagnosis of Anxiety and Depression with Learning Disabled Youth.

She has authored two books on the subject, Test of Phonological Awareness and Overcoming Childhood Disorders, and has another, Depression and Anxiety in Youth Scale, in progress.

Barenbaum earned a BS, EdM, and PhD from Temple University.
