Educational Policy and Leadership Department
Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini said, “It is in your hands [the teachers’] to form new generations, to lead them in the right direction, to instill into them those principles which are the seeds of good works.”
In this light, the Cabrini teacher and administrative education programs provide the knowledge and skills necessary to support children from all walks of life and encourage the development of a philosophy of education consistent with American democratic ideals and traditions.
The Educational Policy and Leadership Department at Cabrini creates, integrates, exchanges and applies knowledge about educational policy, educational leadership, teaching and learning, and more.
Faculty in the department contribute scholarship and teaching intended to deepen and expand understandings in the areas of foundations of education, curriculum and instruction, culturally relevant pedagogy, and educational leadership.
The department’s faculty and students examine educational policies, practices, movements, outcomes, dilemmas, and controversies—as well as the forces shaping them—with an emphasis on academic excellence, leadership development, and a commitment to social justice.
Cabrini offers a Master of Education degree, as well as professional educator certification in several areas.
