Digital Media and Communication

Cabrini’s Digital Media and Communication major is ideal for highly motivated students who want a hands-on learning experience that prepares them well for a wide variety of communication careers. Rather than silo students into one specific track, this major expands students’ knowledge and skills in content creation, media analytics, graphic design, and entrepreneurship. It also prepares students to excel in graduate and professional programs after graduation.

This major requires students to rotate through at least two of the Communication Department’s four media agencies - Cavalier Radio, House 67 Productions, Loquitur News Media, and Social Nexus. These immersive, real-world media agency experiences build students’ technical skills, as well as their product management acumen and their leadership abilities. These agencies are embedded within the department’s curriculum and taught by COM faculty members. These faculty incorporate instruction on the NACE (National Association of Colleges and Employers) competencies into the agency experiences so that students are both career-ready and equipped with a sizeable portfolio of their agency-related work.

Many of the department’s accomplished graduates are working in careers for well-known and well-regarded organizations, such as CBS 3 Philadelphia, ESPN, The Washington Post, The Brownstein Group, Stream Company, TikTok, iHeart Media, and the list goes on.

The career success of all Cabrini COM graduates is by design. The department has a 30+ year history of requiring all its majors to complete a holistic and developmentally-focused Professional Development program, which they enroll in every semester from freshman through senior year. The curriculum in this program teaches students to analyze careers in media and communication and empowers them to position themselves effectively in this competitive industry. Whereas most Communication programs in other universities refer students to the career center for assistance with the internship or job search process, Cabrini’s Communication Department does it differently. The results speak for themselves. Our students enjoy a 95% job placement rate after graduation.
