Master of Accounting

Cabrini University’s Master of Accounting (MAcc) program satisfies the requirement of 150 credit hours needed for Pennsylvania’s—and most other states’—board of accountancy to be licensed as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

MAcc students enhance their in-depth knowledge by:

learning about unique topics like international or forensic accounting
developing leadership and communication skills
strengthening responses to act ethically and in a socially responsible manner

The MAcc degree is especially beneficial for students graduating with an undergraduate degree and major in Accounting.

Please note, international students must be enrolled full-time at Cabrini to be eligible for admission.

Curriculum
Students are required to complete 30 credits (10 three-credit courses).

MACC 510 – Advanced Financial Accounting and Reporting
MACC 520 – Advanced Managerial Accounting
MACC 530 – Taxes and Business Planning
MACC 540 – Forensic Accounting and Auditing
MACC 550 – Accounting Information Systems
MACC 560 – International Accounting
MACC 570 – Regulations and Professional Responsibilities
MACC 580 - Accounting Analytics
MACC 585 - Governmental, Non-Profit Accounting and Other Financial Reporting Frameworks
MACC 590 – Accounting Internship, Independent Study, or (MACC 593Study Abroad (online)

Prerequisite undergraduate courses, with “C” or better, include:

Intermediate I & II (Cabrini equivalent ACC 330/331)
Tax (Cabrini equivalent ACC 341/343)
Auditing (Cabrini equivalent ACC 420)

Leadership and Communication Skills

MAcc students refine their interpersonal skills—including oral and written communication—while developing research skills, critical thinking, and leadership skills.

Students examine the importance of business ethics and social responsibility while maintaining personal and organizational integrity. They apply ethical principles and professional standards to analyze issues that impact accounting professionals.

Technical Skills
MAcc students develop their technical skills by focusing on advanced topics:

developing their understanding of tax law while engaging in a business-planning approach to taxes
enhancing their knowledge of auditing
applying tools and techniques for fraud prevention and detection

CPA Preparation and Global Awareness
Students prepare to take the CPA exam while learning the importance of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

Their professional and personal development will get a real-world boost from an internship, self‑directed research project, or study‑abroad opportunity.
