Paul Cowley, who joined Cabrini as assistant professor of accounting in 2013, has been a consultant and executive in private industry for more than 25 years.
As a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), he has specialized in analyzing, designing, and implementing financial and operational information systems, corporate governance, forensic accounting, and fraud investigation.
Cowley’s work has taken him to more than 30 countries to review financial and operational control systems; and to investigate cases involving suspected ethical violations, non-compliance with U.S. and local laws, asset misappropriation and financial statement fraud.
He has worked with law enforcement in compiling evidence to effect prosecution, and created corporate governance, ethics and compliance programs at a number of international companies.
Cowley started his career in academia when he was a graduate teaching assistant. He has taught accounting, finance and systems courses as an adjunct faculty member for state universities, private non-profit and private for profit universities.
Cowley has a Master of Accountancy from Bowling Green State University and a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Accounting from Ohio University. He is certified in Financial Forensics by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
